Members and Firms

The Register of Members is a complete listing of all members of the MAA in all classes of membership.

The Register of Firms is a complete listing of all architectural or joint architectural and engineering practices that are registered with the MAA and authorized to practice architecture in the Province of Manitoba.

Members

Registered Members

These are individuals who, in accordance with the laws of the province, are entitled to practice architecture in the Province of Manitoba and to use the titles "Architect", "Registered Architect" or the designation "M.A.A." following their name.

Registered Members (Retired)

These are individuals who have retired from the practice of architecture and tendered their resignation as a Registered Member. Registered Members (Retired) are entitled to use the title "Architect (Retired)" or the designation "M.A.A. (Retired)" following their name.

Life Members

These are individuals who have retired from the practice of architecture, tendered their resignation as a Registered Member and have been recognized by the profession for practice with distinction. Life Members are entitled to use the title "Architect (Retired)" or the designation "M.A.A. (Retired)" following their name.

Associate Members

These are individuals who have qualified for either Registered or Intern Membership in the Association, but have chosen not to retain or apply for standing as a Registered or Intern Member.

Intern Members

These are individuals who have satisfied the educational component of the licensing requirements and who are in the process of completing the experience and examination requirements for admission as a Registered Member.

Student Members

These are individuals who are enrolled in have been admitted to a School of Architecture or who are enrolled in the R.A.I.C. Syllabus Program and have completed Part I of the Program.

Honourary Members

These are individuals who have been recognized by the profession for their significant contribution to the advancement of the profession.

Firms

Every legal entity that is registered and authorized to practice architecture in the Province of Manitoba will have a listing which includes the firm's name, address, telephone number, type of organization and principals of the firm who are responsible for the practice.

In addition, each registered architectural or joint architectural and engineering practice has been provided with the opportunity to include a brief firm profile and limited information concerning staff, special capabilities, areas of service and experience, typical commissions and awards. The information that has been included in these areas is that which has been provided by the firm. The MAA assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of any of this information. Some firms have chosen not to submit information in these categories and their profiles reflect their wishes.

Note: In accordance with The Architects Act in Manitoba, no one other than Registered Members of the Association may be involved in the ownership of a sole proprietorship that is authorized to practice architecture. However, the legislation does provide for limited ownership involvement of individuals other that architects within a corporate structure. While there may be individuals other than architects who are involved as directors or partners in a firm or corporation that is authorized to practice architecture in Manitoba, it is only the directors or partners (or full-time employees, under very limited circumstances), who are Registered Members of the MAA and who are responsible for the practice of architecture that are identified as the principals of the authorized entity within the Register of Firms.
